On a technical level, an Onyx mod doesn't actually grant infinite durability, but rather it restores durability to 100%, hides the durability value from view, and sets the armor's/boots' durability to skip damage calculation whenever the player is damaged. This is functionally equivalent to infinite durability, but there is an edge case with the Medical armor, where if an Onyx mod is applied to it, its quirk of trading durability to restore the player's health will still deplete the hidden durability value and so it can still become damaged as a result, as well as won't be able to infinitely restore the player's health once the hidden durability drops below 21% (the hidden durability can still be repaired by armor shards in this case). |
